Beginning on May 7, Fullmetal Alchemist Manga will be available in full color on Webtoon.

Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist manga will be available on WEBTOON Entertainment’s English-language website beginning on May 7, the company said on Friday. The series will be adapted for WEBTOON’s vertical-scroll format and shown in full color.

The manga is described by WEBTOON:

The plot of Fullmetal Alchemist centers on Edward and Alphonse Elric, two young, gifted alchemists who try to use the illegal practice of human transmutation to revive their deceased mother. But the cost is too great; Edward loses both his sibling and his limb when the transformation fails. Edward gives up his arm in order to transform his brother’s soul and affix it to a suit of armor in order to rescue him. The brothers then embarked on a protracted quest to recover their corpses.

From 2001 until 2010, Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist manga appeared in Monthly Shonen Gangan. The series, along with associated books and art books, were published in North America by Viz Media. Two OVAs, two anime films, a live-action movie, and television anime adaptations in 2003 and 2009 were all influenced by the manga. To mark the franchise’s twentieth anniversary, two live-action follow-up movies were released. May 2022 saw the opening of Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Fukushūsha Scar, and June 2022 saw the opening of Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Saigo no Rensei. The 2009 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime is based on Hiromu Arakawa’s original manga, much like the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime, except it follows the plot and resolution of the book more closely.
